Indian Spyker

Date September 3, 2007

Yes … in a months time, Spyker would be 60% Indian, with Vijay Mallya and Michiel Mol buying the cash-starved team. And what better news to come back to the world of Formula 1 and blogging.

Proposed street-race for Indian GP ?

Date March 28, 2007

As we wrote earlier, the Indian tycoon Vijay Mallya is hell-bent on bringing Formula 1 to India and our good ol’ Bernie is also very much interested in Indian Grand Prix. While earlier there were talks of building of a new circuit [which is not yet abandoned completely], now there are talks of having a street-race in the Indian capital, New Delhi.

Delhi likely to host Indian Grand Prix

Date January 17, 2007

As reported on F1i.com

India is edging closer to a deal to host formula one, with Toyota’s first Indian sponsor revealing that the first race could be held in Delhi in 2009.

Vijay Mallya, who is believed to have close ties with F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone, told reporters at the launch of the TF107 in Cologne that he was “optimistic” about the prospect of an Indian GP, “the government of Delhi I think really wants formula one,” …… Bernie said late in 2006: “We had to make sure we found the right place in India and we have.”

Well, this is just confirming what we wrote two months ago in our old blog Is the wait finally over ?. And as we wrote earlier [on this blog] that Vijay Mallya is the person who is playing a major role in brining F1 to India. And we are eagerly waiting for the official announcement.
