Fisi likely to lose Renault seat - Gascoyne
March 6, 2007
“He definitely has to win half a dozen races this year,” claims Spyker’s technical chief Mike Gascoyne, who worked alongside the Roman in 2001 before switching to the Toyota team. “If not he’ll be falling back to the teams down the grid; he won’t be getting another top line drive.”
And we agree completely with Mike. We think it’s right time for Fisi to win a few GPs, since Alonso is not alongside him to take away the limelight and team focus and also because he has rookie Heikkie to give him the right “push” towards trying a little hard. We know that Fisi won’t like to get sidelined by the rookie.

So if Fisi has one season left, who is in line to replace him?

Nelson Piquet Jr of course!

That’s correct Clive.
By next season Heikki would have experience of a complete race year under his belt, and Piquet Jr would have complete year of testing the F1 car. Which would give Renault enough options to boot-out the non-performers.

Of course! For some reason his association with Renault slipped my mind. Thanks for setting me straight.
That would be an awfully young team!
