Illien: Raikkonen will need a Ferrari tank

Date January 18, 2007

As reported on autosport.com

Ferrari’s new Formula One car will have to be built like a tank to withstand the treatment Kimi Raikkonen dishes out, according to former Mercedes-McLaren engine expert Mario Illien.

“No one drives the machine harder, no one bangs it so hard lap after lap into the kerb, Ferrari will have to build Kimi a tank if they want to win the title with him.”

Wow! So Ferrari should come out with modified version of F2007 called F2007T [that's F2007 Tank version] for Kimi.

Interestingly Ferrari have not yet tested with Kimi properly. Which might mean either that they have a very good idea about the change with Kimi(him driving the car harder et al) and hv done their homework or that they are clearly underestimating the other teams and drivers.

The last time they made a mistake like that was 2005 and we all know what happened. But something tells me its the former, dont expect a team like Ferrari to make the same mistake twice.

Hmm, dey shud have figured that out first only..

Are they getting a diff version only for Kimi, and not for Massa?

I’m sure Kimi’s gonna win this season..
